And he seemed flattered but pretended to be coy, when I told him he reminded me of someone back in the 1970's. A guy who told us funny stories of his hustler lifestyle, which involved making the acquaintance of rich old queens who liked glamorous Malaysian/Asian Boys boy(s) at Napoleon's just off Bond St. The club throw-back to the days of Chipps Channon and James Lees-Milne.. The cool people who were into music went to Monkberry’s on Jermyn Street and The Great American Disaster for a burger after club. Both I think may have been owned by Peter Morton... In the days before the Blitz and Zanzibar opened on Gt. Queen St. But then some fashion/arts queens slummed it while looking for rough trade at Shaggeramers…. Anyone out there know Kim Hunt, Francesco Oddie of Islington or Tony Meed of a village called Flitewick? (it was the name on the train station sign at the Blitz owned by Mike Brown)

Seemed genuinely surprised I would want to take her pic...

I met this woman on the grounds of Guy's Hospital... When I was a toddler a little older than Tuc's my parents and I took a very small two room flat in the Guinness Buildings on Pages Walk, just off the Old Kent Road in Bermondsey. Built around the 1890’s the estate was made up of three blocks, which comprised 600 dwellings divided by large yards where children ran around and played.

In 1960 residents were moved to other estates so that electricity could be installed... When I watch old Brit movies of the time they look a little depressing almost seedy, one every one likes is Blow Up >>>

Love this location which look's like a side-street in a West Country market town... as the house behind seems to keep chickens in front and only 2 min walk from the Israeli Embassy in London >>>

One of the best gifts Luisa ever gave me was a copy of Ancient Faces . Recently, the same exhibition has been traveling and while visiting relations in France and Switzerland I was delighted to see they had the same book, confirming our similar interests...

If I were going to try categorize the woman in these photos using an "Ancient Faces" metric: The woman above reminds me of the beautiful pale middle-England's born into the ranks of the middle English gentry around the time of Cromwell...

The woman below looks like a duchess...

Like Mai, I also have an baby/toddler -The Tucs- and have I all the same struggles....

Trying to stay active, keep this blog up but my Fashions/Passion are changing and I'm get bored with old projects and this one has gone on for five years now...

Last week I had fun writing about my life in Los Angeles. Back then in my mid-twenties I was the age most people settle down and start a family but I was busy managing club doors, DJ'ing and running my own clubs at night and days gardening...

Although then I lived in West Hollywood and Bev Hill's, nice weather in London recently brought me back to my early day's on the West Coast, crashing up in Laurel Canyon with a nice couple, writers, who had built some A-Frames on the side of the hill and spent their days gardening and foraging for food living the life of flexitarians never going to last back then I was married tomy at the time strangely enough I seem to be going backwards and have increasingly rediscovered my interest in gardening and the life of The Urban Rustic

I was going to start a new blog but instead I have decided to include some of those ideas into The Style Scout...

Mostly writing, but don't panic never more then 300 words as no time for more with my son to care for...

As I took this pic I realised I'v known Richard for over 30 years... One of the few people I know, who  reads John Cowper-Powys... Just one reason I'm so fond of him the other is that he's  always been

On route to an audition... Not sure what for!

DSC_0048

I liked his cocky hairdo... Hope who ever was conducting the audition did too...

Reminds me of a guy called Sim Cass, who worked behind the bar at the Blitz LDN and joined some of us other Brits in the used-clothing trade (now called "vintage"). This was back before the Beverley Center in Los Angeles opened (when Wolfgang Puck was chef de cuisine at Ma Maison...)

Mr. Puck once offered me a job in his kitchen and although I was tempted, I prefered to have my slightly-dangerous-funny-better-paying-part-time gig, front of the house at the cool restaurant of the day...The job had great perks, partying with movie stars, musicians and the assorted reprobates and conmen who prayed on them.

Los Angeles was a party town back then and I loved it... People who know me know that I can be a rowdy guy... Once Simon Doonan had to ask me to leave one of his parties at the tiny house he rented, for being too rambunctious...

A friend and I had planned having brunch at Joe Allens before Simon's do... Out-and-about killing time we ended up at the Parrot, a boy-bar on Santa Monica, when Rock Hudson came in. He was a little emaciated but walking, so we hung out drinking cmplimentary Long Island Ice Teas in celebration of his "Royal"... I do not remember too much after that except that and at one point we were pulled over by a Sheriff's deputy, while lost in the hills... Somehow we persuaded him to give us a lift to Fat Burgers on La Cienega Blvd and then Burton Way. The rest is now a blur except that I had a few club stamps on my wrists...
